The Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of the United Nations and the Institute Techinformi of Georgian Technical University are excited to partner together to reinforce the abilities of researchers in agriculture, forestry and fisheries from organizations in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia, The Republic of North Macedonia, The Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia and Armenia through FAO tools such as AGORA and AGRIS with a two-day workshop.

The workshop "Raising awareness in scientific publishing in agriculture and providing capacities to access to information in agricultural research through Access to Scientific Information Resources in Agriculture (ASIRA) in Eastern Europe and Central Asia" will take place at the Institute Techinformi of Georgian Technical University in the summer of 2020.

With the workshop, FAO and the Institute Techinformi of Georgian Technical University will aim to raise awareness on new trends in open science, open access, and open data in agriculture and access to information in agricultural research, particularly through the AGRIS and AGORA programmes (Access to Global Online Research in Agriculture) with the objective to enhance knowledge sharing and improve visibility and access to agricultural sciences and technical content of agricultural research.

AGORA was launched in 2003 by the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in partnership with Cornell University and up to 65 of the world’s leading science publishers.

AGORA/Reasearch4Life provides free or low cost access to peer-reviewed journals and e- books in agriculture and related biological, environmental, social and other research domains to more than 3,400 institutions from more than 115 eligible countries.
