This Blog entry is about Development and Integration of the lucene-based Indexing&Search Engine for AGROVOC

The following paragraph provides some introductory notes.

Standing on what I heard from Sachit (unfortunately, there’s been no time for working together “hands on” in Malaysia, but we discussed a bit at the end of the workshop), the indexing engine should already be able to work on the live installation without any problem, and the reported issues were only related to the capability to let administrators start the indexing procedure from scratch through the UI indexing button.

However, we also agreed that since:

-          this “first-indexing” process has to be launched one time only (single shot)

-          the index is incrementally (and automatically) updated when users add new resources

we will thus create the index from scratch just one time with a batch application outside the workbench server, insert the index inside the workbench, and then let the dynamic/incremental management of the index do the rest when the application is accessed by users
