Open Access week 2020

The 2020 Open Access Week is to be held from 19 to 25 October with the theme: “Open with Purpose: Taking Action to Build Structural Equity and Inclusion.” International Open Access Week is a global, community-driven week of action to open up access to research. The event is celebrated by individuals, institutions and organizations across the world, and its organization is led by a global advisory committee.

Openness can be a powerful tool for building more equitable systems of sharing knowledge. Rebuilding research and scholarship to be open allows for the opportunity to create a foundation that is more equitable. 2020 marks the third consecutive year the theme for International Open Access Week will focus on the urgent need for action on equity and inclusion, underscoring the urgency of continuing to center this work.

International Open Access Week is an important opportunity to spark new conversations, create connections across communities that can facilitate and advance progress to build more open knowledge—discussions and actions that need to be continued, year in and year out.

The official hashtag of Open Access Week is #OAweek.
