Improved open access SciELO-South Africa platform launched

The improved open access Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO - South Africa (SA) was launched by the South Africa’s Minister of Science and Technology. South Africa joined the SciELO community in 2009 spearheaded by the Academy of Science South Africa (ASSF). The launch marked the certification of the SA's open access collection by the SciELO Global Network ; that it meets the SciELO quality control measures and acceptance policy to the SciELO global network.

Currently, the platform has a sizable collection of open access journals from within South Africa, and agriculture has more than ten titles.
 
SciELO was started in Brazil in 1987 as a platform that supports open access journals and platforms have been successfully implemented in other countries such as Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, Cuba, Spain, Mexico, Portugal, and Venezuela.
