agINFRA at 'International Conference on Trends in Knowledge and Information Dynamics' in India

The Documentation Research and Training Centre (DRTC) in India is celebrating its 'Golden Jubilee Celebrations' and organized the 'International Conference on Trends in Knowledge and Information Dynamics' (ICTK-2012). This conference will take place in Bangalore, India, 10-13 July, 2012. During the 'Open stakeholders sessions' the agINFRA project will be presented by, among others, Johannes Keizer (FAO).

In short, agINFRA is a data infrastructure to support agricultural scientific communities promoting data sharing and development of trust in agricultural sciences. The project represents a unique opportunity for the innovation and transfer of scientific and technological results in the agricultural field into real outcomes that help improve scientific community-driven policy development and service deployment for data generation, management and sharing.

The key goals and corresponding project objectives are as follows:

  • Scientific Goal: Increased sharing and federation of agricultural data
  • Scientific Goal: Efficient data management in the agricultural research process
  • Technical Goal: Deployment of robust European service infrastructure for scientific agricultural data
  • Technical Goal: High interoperability between agricultural and other data resources.

Documentation Research and Training Centre

The Documentation Research and Training Centre (DRTC) is a research centre at the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI). It conducts research, training and higher education in the field Library and Information Sciences and allied areas. Since its funding in 1962 DRTC has been involved in research, education, training and cutting edge applications of Information and Communication Technology to libraries and information centres, knowledge centers and systems.
