A recent article entitled 'Openness and Visibility' authored by Stephen Rudgard has been published in the ICT Update bulletin. The article retraces the concepts of open access and further defines 'openness' to information and knowledge in the agricultural domain. Regarding visibility, the paper says 'the use of international standards for metadata to describe the data accessible from open repositories is a major factor for ensuring greater visibility'. 

Furthermore, the paper provides perspectives on various aspects of opening access to research outputs and reviews various institutional dimensions, the institutional mandates as captured in the ROARMAP and the CIARD Movement.
