Open Up Guide for Agriculture launched by GODAN and the Open Data Charter
On 16th October 2018, the Global Open Data for Agriculture (GODAN*) and the Open Data Charter launched the Open Up Guide for Agriculture. This guide aims to help governments to prioritize and publish relevant datasets for agricultural development.
The Open Up Guide for Agriculture provides guidance on the key elements of opening datasets in agriculture. It focuses on three elements: 1. Why open data is important? 2. What data should be opened based on policy perspectives? 3. What elements should make up a strategy? |
The guide was created for policymakers and civil society who want to inform decision makers on open data and agriculture, and understand how open data can make a difference for the agricultural sector and food security.
It can be used by those who want to start developing an open data strategy for agricultural transformation in their country or region.
*GODAN supports the proactive sharing of open data to make information about agriculture and nutrition available, accessible, and usable to help governments, businesses, other organizations and individuals make better decisions to achieve food security worldwide. Open data is data that anyone can access, use or share. GODAN is a member of the Open Data Charter - a collaboration between governments and organisations working to open up data based on a shared set of Principles. |
