FAO

Due to the remarkable success of the initial "Unlocking AGORA: Access, Utilization, and Troubleshooting for Enhanced Research" webinar held on 19 September 2023, The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is excited to host a second webinar scheduled on 24 October 2023 at 10:00 CEST, continuing the valuable discussions and insights.

FAO is also planning to host this webinar in Spanish and French before the end of the calendar year.

The webinar is intended for both prospective and present users of the Access to Global Online Research in Agriculture (AGORA) platform. AGORA is a powerful digital platform that gives professionals and scholars access to a wide range of scholarly articles and research materials in the areas of agriculture, food, and related disciplines.

This webinar will give participants the knowledge and skills needed to properly explore, use, and troubleshoot the AGORA collection, whether you're a student, researcher, or professional looking to take advantage of AGORA's extensive resources. Participants of this webinar will learn in-depth strategies for optimizing the value of the AGORA collection, including:

  • Detailed information on eligibility criteria and the registration process for Research4Life  and AGORA.
  • Step-by-step guidance on navigating the AGORA content portal.
  • Tips and techniques for efficiently searching and retrieving desired content.
  • Exploring advanced features such as bookmarking content and setting up search alerts.

In addition to enhancing the utilization of the AGORA collection, the webinar will provide ample opportunity for an extensive question-and-answer session. This will enable participants to seek guidance on troubleshooting and technical issues they may encounter.

More about AGORA

Since 2003, FAO has led the AGORA collection, which provides access to thousands of journals, e-books, and other information resources covering agriculture, fisheries, food, nutrition, veterinary science and related biological, environmental and social sciences in public institutions across the world.  The aim of the programme is to improve the quality and effectiveness of agricultural research, education and training in low-income countries.

Subscription-based journals and major scientific books remain important sources of high-quality scientific information that are crucial in advancing higher education, improving the ability to share findings, and informing about public policy decisions. AGORA is one of the five programmes that make up Research4Life.
